The USS Constitution Museum serves as the memory and educational voice of the USS Constitution. Through collecting, preserving and interpreting the stories of “Old Ironsides,” the Museum is able to share the history of the ship with the public. Hands-on, interactive programs and exhibits create a positive and memorable experience for all ages by inspiring within them the freedom that Constitution symbolizes. The Museum is a private, non-profit 501c (3) organization that receives no appropriated federal funding.
Everyday in the USS Constitution Museum, families can learn about the War of 1812 through hands-on interactive exhibitions. The broad subject of the war is explored through the lens of the legendary USS Constitution – “Old Ironsides.” You can furl a sail, fire a canon or swing in a hammock, just as sailors did two-hundred years ago. The memories of the ship and crew are preserved to inspire within us the real stories of those who fought for our great nation during the War of 1812.
