(1752 – February 13, 1817)

Reportedly a merchant and distiller in Boston, John Martin is shrouded in mystery, with very little verifiable information available about his personal life.

According to a possible death notice of John Martin, he was a deacon. Sarah Gammell, the daughter of Boston Tea Party participant John Gammell, names Mr. Martin as a participant alongside her father but provides no other discernible details. Boston Tea Party participant Joshua Wyeth also reveals a man with the surname Martin as accompanying him in the “destruction of the tea” at Griffin’s Wharf on the night of December 16, 1773.

John Martin died in Boston, MA, on February 13, 1817.
