Elkanah Young, a mariner from Eastham, Massachusetts, was named as a participant in the Boston Tea Party by a descendant who joined the Sons of the American Revolution lineage society.
There have been no other mentions of Elkanah Young taking part in the “destruction of the tea” besides claims by descendants centuries later. His gravestone in Forest Hill Cemetery in Lamoine, Maine, also mentions his participation. Without further evidence, however, Elkanah Young is considered an “Eyewitness to History.”
