(November 3, 1754 – July 21, 1834)

Adam Beals Jr. was a 19-year-old cabinet maker and yeoman living in a part of Hingham that is modern-day Cohasset, Massachusetts, when he participated in the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

Beals left Hingham soon after marrying Lydia Beal in 1777. Adam and Lydia relocated to Goshen, Massachusetts, and then ultimately to St. Albans, Franklin County, Vermont, where he worked as a cabinet maker and farmer.

In addition to his participation in the Boston Tea Party, Adam Jr. served multiple enlistments during the Revolutionary War. He reportedly served under Captain Webster in Colonel Fellows’ regiment for eight months in 1775. He further served for one year and 15 days from February 1776 to February 1777 under Captain Israel Chapin and Colonel Elisha Porter. Beals claimed he fought in the Battles of Quebec and Three Rivers and was present at the capture of General John Burgoyne. He further claimed in his pension application to have fought at Morristown, New Jersey, at the personal request of General George Washington for 15 days. For his service in the Revolutionary War, Adam Beals was granted a pension of $8.00 per month beginning April 1818.

Adam Beals, Jr., died on July 21, 1834. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, St. Albans, Vermont.
