(1740 – August 7, 1833)

A baker from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Francis Moore had a history of military service, having served with his father in the French and Indian War.

Francis served as a Private from April 6, 1759, until May 10, 1760, while his father served as a surgeon. A staunch Patriot, Moore was “one of the party that threw tea into the harbor at Boston” in December 1773. His obituary clearly stated his participation, claiming he “was distinguished on that occasion by appearing openly and without disguise, whilst his comrades were disguised, and mostly as Indians.” As such, it was no surprise when the Cambridge resident joined the American Army in the Revolutionary War.

Francis Moore died on August 7, 1833, and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts.
